There is a very good book called “Then Everything Changed” by Jeff Greenfield. In this non-fiction work, Greenfield discusses how the sequence of events could have been different in American History. I remarked to my neighbor in Synagogue this past weekend, what would happen in a similar novel about the Bible – would Ishmael and Isaac be friends? He responded why start there, how about Adam not biting into the Apple?
Well, we can not re-write the past, but we can create the future. In Israel the newest battlefield recruit is a robotic snake, I guess there is redemption for even the slimiest of creatures. This serpent-bot is equipped with a camera, microphone and uncanning ability to slither into caves, tunnels and cracks in buildings. Deployed with a single “eye” dressed in camouflage colors, soldiers can remotely observe the enemies ahead keeping the fruit from the tree of knowledge in the hands of the peacemakers.
As many of you know, this Friday night will be Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement in the Jewish Calendar. As human beings we have so much to atone, in looking at nature we see that animals only harm one another when threaten for survival, no wonder why robotic beasts out number humanoids 3:1.
