Superman: X-Ray Vision is Here
Where is Superman? This seems to be the question that every is asking, from the GOP debate in Nevada to the protestors on Wall Street. There are real bad guys in the world, and the good guys need help stopping their devious plans.
Today’s Superheroes wear pocket protectors and glasses, and their Hall of Justice is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory, the scientists have developed “X-Ray Vision” for our troops in Afghanistan. In the above video above, this break-through radar system is able to detect people moving behind a solid concrete wall.
Obviously, the device defiantly needs some better packaging before it is combat ready as it currently looks like an office cart with it computers and rows of antennas. Future installations may be mounted on Humvees vehicles with real time video reporting to troops over 50 feet away. The best news is that this X-Ray Vision does not use ionizing radiation but microwaves similar to your cell phone. According to project leader Gregory Charvat, this technology has serious implications for “urban combat situations,” so watch out Lex Luther.
