ANSWER: Hold a Robot competition with the the Black Eyed Peas.
This Sunday to celebrate the 20th Annual FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Championship ABC Television will host a special feature called “Science is Rock and Roll” Aug. 14th at 7pm EST.
The FIRST event is a a worldwide science and robotics K-12 competition that celebrates technology. As part of the media blitz there will be live performances by The Black Eyed Peas and Willow Smith, as well as special appearances from a host of high profile celebrities speaking out to support STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education.
It is amazing to think that this type of event exists outside the realm of public education with its inspiration coming from American entrepreneurs. Hats off to Segway inventor Dean Kamen who founded FIRST® in 1989. To learn more about FIRST, go to www.usfirst.org and tune in this Sunday!
