Being over 40, I am caught quite often staring at the hair in my comb as my hairline grows in the mirror. There are hundreds of different treatments for baldness from shampoos to special massage treatments, but a Robot?
Earlier this summer Restoration Robotics, Inc. received FDA approval for their “robotic system for follicular unit extraction (FUE)”. The Robot named, ARTAS, is a “computer assisted hair harvesting system” consisting of a computer assisted station with needle mechanism, force sensor, robotic arm, and video imaging system. The software that runs the instrument helps the surgeon target follicular units for extraction and also uses stereoscopic video images to guide the needle mechanism and robotic arm.
Robots are invading everyone step of our lives, even our most vain desires. What’s next, a robotic blue pill?
