Happy Meals To Include Robots
Yesterday, it happened. McDonald’s blinked and added apples to their kid-friendly drug-inspired meals (a.k.a. “The Happy Meal”). While fast food is still legal, it is against every law to kill oneself. Kids easily get addicted to the sweet flavor of sugar/salt spiced fries with burgers nicely packaged in a gift box that is less than $5. Rather than apples or toys, why not a salad option with a robot to stop children from gorging themselves..
Autom is a unique tiny robot (Happy Meal size) that is focused on your health. Yes, this iPod with eyes, is your dieting coach that keeps track of all the details of your nutritional intake, fitness level and daily exercise routine. He even has a voice to yell at you during food binges. Autom is the brain child of Cory Kidd a MIT student. Rumor has it that Cory will begin trials later this year with a major insurance company.
The FDA is requiring all fast food chains to add the calories totals to their menus. While this symbolic effort has proven meaningless in New York (as people do not read), Autom and future iterations could be the answer to reducung our national obseity problem.
